Justice Mark Ierace

The Honourable Justice Mark Ierace was sworn-in as a Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 31 January 2019. His Honour was admitted to the New South Wales Bar in 1981. He was appointed a Public Defender in 1989 and in-house counsel for the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions in 1995. His Honour received silk in 1999 and in 2007 he was appointed the NSW Senior Public Defender, a position he held until his appointment to the NSW Supreme Court. As to Justice Ierace’s practice in international criminal law, his Honour was a Senior Trial Attorney for the Office of the Prosecutor (OTP) of the UN International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (UN ICTY) in The Hague from 2000 to 2004 and an ad-hoc member of the OTP appeal team in 2006. In 2009 to 2012 his Honour was a Senior Visiting Fellow in International Criminal Law at the University of New South Wales.
