The Honourable Justice Richard Cavanagh was sworn-in as a Judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 16 September 2019. His Honour graduated from the University of New South Wales with degrees in Arts and Law and was admitted as a solicitor in 1982. His Hour worked as a solicitor for 6 years before becoming a partner at Henry Davis York Solicitors where he remained for further 10 years. His Honour was called to the Bar in 1998 and took silk in 2010. During his period at the Bar, his Honour undertook work in a wide range of cases, including commercial litigation, insurance, personal injury, professional negligence, property, construction and equity cases. His Honour also appeared regularly in the Court of Appeal. Justice Cavanagh sits in the Common Law Division of the court.
