As part of their rehabilitation plan, people in custody are assessed for gaps in education and work skills. CSI provides those who are eligible, and willing to participate, with opportunities to improve Language, Literacy and Learning (LLN) skills and, to attain workplace accreditation and qualifications, including regulatory courses such as WHS, food handling, forklift, dogging, crane and white card, and jobs in catering, cleaning, laundry, pack and assembly, grounds maintenance and recycling. We also provide trade job opportunities in carpentry, welding and construction to skilled participants, as well as traineeships.
CSI’s work and education and employment programs aim to help people of all abilities to develop skills that will enhance employment opportunities in the community. Those who complete qualifications and maintain a high performance record can participate in work release programs and apply for permanent post-release work opportunities with participating employers.
