Work Readiness

Enhancing employability

The Work Readiness program is a key initiative aimed at enhancing employability skills for people in custody engaged in prison-based work programs. By focusing on transferable soft skills such as communication, decision making, problem solving, and teamwork, the program ensures inmates develop competencies valued by employers.

CSI leverages coaching, training, and mentoring, allowing overseers to support people in custody in refining workplace behaviours and skill sets. These assessments are formally recorded and reviewed by the Work Readiness team for continuous improvement.ample paragraph

The challenge

Reintegration into society can be difficult without proper education, training,  and employment pathways. Without structured support, inmates face barriers to securing meaningful work, increasing the likelihood of reoffending post release.

Additionally, bridging the gap between education in custody and sustainable employment requires partnerships with external industries to create real world job opportunities before and after release.ample paragraph

The solution

The Work Readiness program provides structured assessments and coaching to people in custody, helping them recognise and develop skills applicable in various industries. Alongside this initiative, CSI supports Work Release programs and Pathways to Employment (P2E) for transitioning into community-based jobs.
