Pathways to Employment (P2E) is a Corrective Services NSW initiative designed to support individuals exiting custody in finding meaningful employment, and to help employers access a motivated, work-ready talent pool.
We identify suitable participants before release, prepare them for employment, and provide up to six months of post-release case management. Each participant receives individual mentoring, tailored job coaching, and support with job matching, training, and reporting obligations.
As workplaces evolve and focus more on inclusion, it is worth asking: Is a criminal history check necessary for every role?
Many positions, especially those not involving vulnerable populations or sensitive data, may not require this level of scrutiny. Blanket policies can unintentionally exclude capable, motivated individuals who are ready to contribute and grow. By reconsidering these requirements, employers can open doors to talent, support rehabilitation, and help build safer, more inclusive communities.
Employment Pathways Case Managers assess candidates for suitability. Successful participants go through a structured preparation process:
“P2E staff have been very responsive to our needs. This is reflected in the quality of the candidates we have received for the positions we had available.”
- P2E Employer.
“The best help I received was in an interview because I get so nervous. P2E helped me get into a pre-employment program through Sydney Metro Construction Project and I love it!”
- P2E Participant.
By partnering with P2E, you are not just filling a role, you are helping someone rebuild their life, contribute to society, and become part of a stronger, more inclusive workforce.
